An open investigation
“The 58-year-old man was approached by a group of people wearing hoodies. They injured his arm and his back. He was transported to Milan hospital, which he will be able to leave shortly,” a local police source explained to AFP. An investigation was opened to determine whether it was “an attack linked to a conflict between supporters or a criminal act”.
Earlier in the day, a Newcastle spokesperson expressed “concern following reports of the violent attack on a supporter in Milan”. “We contacted the local authorities to understand the circumstances of this attack,” he added.
