New York Yankees left-hander Anthony Misiewicz left Friday’s game against the Pittsburgh Pirates after taking a 100.6 mile per hour line drive off the head of Ji Hwan Bae’s bat in the sixth inning.
This shocked those present due to the forcefulness of the hit and the difficulty of the situation. The Yankees’ medical staff acted quickly to gauge the severity of the situation and now the pitcher is being evaluated with more precise tests.

Misiewicz was taken off the field after lying on the ground for several minutes.
The 28-year-old was alert and oriented after being evaluated by Pittsburgh team doctors and will undergo further tests at Allegheny General Hospital, the Yankees announced.
Misiewicz was only making his third appearance since arriving in New York and there is still no word on whether he will be able to continue in what little remains of the regular season. The Yankees have had injury problems with their pitchers this year, especially their starters.
