New England Patriots’ Christian González Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month, Proud of Colombian Roots

Christian González, cornerback of the New England Patriots, participated this Tuesday in the celebration of the NFL Hispanic Heritage Month with a video in which he declared himself proud of his Colombian roots.

In the video published on the league’s social networks and channels, Christian, son of Colombian Héctor González, who played basketball for the Bogotá Pirates between 1996 and 2000, tells how he came to the NFL.

“When I got to high school it was my turn to say what I was going to do next González. Being able to represent Colombia in the United States means a lot to me because kids who want to play this sport can be inspired by me. I like having that weight on my shoulders. shoulders”, says the Patriots player in the video.

Gonzalez was born in Carrollton, Texas. Like him and his father, his sister Melissa is also an athlete. She is a specialist in the 400 meters hurdles, a competition in which she participated for Colombia in the last Tokyo Olympic Games. She was eliminated in the semi-finals.

The 21-year-old cornerback was selected 17th in the first round of this year’s draft by New England, team with which last Sunday he had an outstanding performance in the game against the Dolphins.

He was the highest-rated rookie in the NFL on this day thanks to his six tackles and one interception.

The league and its 32 teams will celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with a series of special events beginning September 15 and concluding October 15.

In addition to the story of Christian González, the NFL will also broadcast videos starring Fred Warner of the San Francisco 49ers and Alijah Vera-Tucker of the New York Jets both with Mexican roots.

During week three of the season, which begins this Thursday, the NFL will release the song titled ‘Level #0B’, produced by Dominican artist RMAND, a melody that is inspired by Miami Dolphins receiver Braxton Berrios, of Puerto Rican descent.
