The Norwegians were superior in the first 45 minutes, but the 1-0 win for the hosts came from an unfortunate move. ÖFB goalkeeper Manuela Zinsberger was only able to fend off a deflected shot in the middle, from where Karina Sävik practically only had to dust the ball off (26th). After the break, the Austrians got into the game better and were rewarded with the equalizer from Campbell, who scored just ten minutes after coming on as a substitute.
Thanks to the opening draw in a group with France and Portugal, the ÖFB selection remains, at least theoretically, in the running for a ticket to the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. The entire group phase of the Nations League will be played with one return game each in the fall, with the last matchday being December 5th. The top four in the group will then qualify for the Final Four, which will take place between February 21 and 28, 2024.
Sävik scores to give Norway the lead
