Nantes dominates Lorient and achieves a second success in a row in Ligue 1

The match: 5-3

Nantes is moving up the slope slowly but surely. And spectacularly so. Because after two defeats, against Toulouse (1-2) and Lille (0-2), followed by two encouraging draws against Monaco (3-3, already a prolific match) then against Marseille (1-1), the Canaries , finally winners on the fifth day, in Clermont (1-0) confirmed brilliantly in front of their public by winning (5-3), a lunar score, against a too passive FC Lorient and on the contrary losing speed (one point taken over the last three matches).

Because after having nicely opened the score from the start with Kroupi, with a header, on a perfect cross from Le Goff, (5th), the Merlus relied too much on this achievement. Thus, the FCN gradually got its hands on the match, showing itself more and more threatening, through Simon (11th), Abline (26th) and Mohamed (33rd), then especially Douglas Augusto, whose recovery forced Mvogo to succeed a reflex parade with the foot (39th). It is therefore very logical that served by Simon, Abline equalized thanks to a superb sequence of control-oriented shooting from the inside of the right foot (41st).

On this good momentum, the Canaries took the advantage from the restart on a corner placed by Mollet on the head of Cömert at the near post (46th). And the second period turned completely irrational, particularly in the final moments. Mostafa Mohamed, thanks to a splendid long-range free kick with his right foot (54th) then Florent Mollet (84th) with a well-aimed recovery twice gave Nantes the break (3-1 then 4-2).

But the FCL held on in both cases, first thanks to a superb left-footed goal from Faivre (75th, 3-2), who then served Tosin perfectly (85th, 4-3). The end of added time was then epic: Descamps made a magnificent save on a header from Touré (90th+5), who thus missed the ball by 4-4. And on the counter, it was the Canaries who had the last word, thanks to a penalty obtained by Marquinhos for a foul by Igor Silva. And transformed by Moses Simon (90th + 7). Enough to literally explode a Beaujoire stadium in a trance!

The player: a gala Moses Simon

Certainly, the powerful and twirling Nigerian international striker (28 years old) has a certain waste in his initiatives, as his unscrewed shot in the 11th minute symbolized. But his propensity to constantly strike from the sides and his ability to place his partners in orbit caused the Lorient defense to explode. Thus, he offered two magnificent assists (bringing his total to three this season in L1), to Abline (41st) and Mollet (84th). He therefore fully deserved to be rewarded with a goal (his second of the year), a penalty converted from the right with composure (90th + 7), knowing that he was of course at the origin of the dazzling counter who brought him.

It was an evening of firsts. Matthis Abline scored his first goal for his first match with Nantes, where Eray Cömert scored his first goal in L1. For Lorient, Eli Junior Kroupi, 17 years and 92 days old, became the youngest scorer in the club’s history in L1.
