Week 1: NFL Sunday Highlights

The Browns and 49ers debuted in 2023 with dominant victories based on an old, but effective formula, and the Dolphins showed off their explosiveness in Los Angeles.

The Diagonal Guru offers us his best bets for the first MNF of the season.

MIAMI — I think the vast majority would choose this first edition of Monday Night Football (Monday 8:15 p.m. ET by ESPN Deportes and by ESPN+) as the game that no one wants to miss.

After all, it will be the debut of Aaron Rodgers with the New York Jetswhich are getting a lot of love from both the analysts and the odds in Las Vegas.

In front they will have the Buffalo Billswho have won the last three AFC East titles, and yet find themselves flying somewhat under the radar.

Not that you need any more excuses to experience this exciting match, but we are going to share with you our three favorite bets from this match:

1) DALVIN COOK OVER 40.5 YARDS RUSHING

One of my favorite moves made by the Jets this offseason was the addition of Dalvin Cook. I understand we live in an era where few want to pay running backs lucrative contracts, but Cook still has the talent and youth to be a top-five running back in the NFL. If we add to that that Breece Hall is coming off a serious injury, Cook may see more carries than usual.

The Jets have several question marks on the offensive line, specifically their two offensive tackles, while Buffalo has one of the most aggressive defensive fronts in the NFL. The best way to counteract that pressure and prevent Aaron Rodgers from getting hit is to run the ball. Cook’s over/under is low, and it’s an opportunity to take advantage of.

2) JOSH ALLEN TO SCORE A TOUCHDOWN ON THE GROUND (+195)

Yes ok Josh Allen He has a 6-3 record against the Jets, the New York team has been a difficult obstacle for the Bills quarterback. More recently, last season, he had a win and a loss, but in both games he struggled to be effective through the air. In those two games, he completed just 34 of 61 passes for just 352 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions. However, when it came to broken plays, he shined and racked up 133 rushing yards and three touchdowns.

James Cook He should add prominence this season, but he is not a genuine threat between the tackles in the red zone. In other words, if the Bills get to the red zone, Allen will use his legs.

3) GARRETT WILSON OVER 71.5 YARDS BY AIR

The Jets had virtually zero productivity at the quarterback position in 2002, “thanks” to Zach Wilson y Mike White. Still, they had the 2022 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year in Garrett Wilsonwho specifically against the Bills had 92 and 78 yards through the air in their two confrontations.

Today I look at the wide receiver position on the Jets roster, and I consider it a deficit, because in my eyes Allen Lazard It’s more of a 3 than a 2 and Corey Davis He retired surprisingly.

Rodgers has had nothing but praise for Wilson this offseason, and although they saw little action in the preseason, the Jets’ new quarterback made it clear who his favorite target through the air is; He curiously uses the same number as Davante Adams. I don’t know how much success the Jets are going to have through the air, but the yards they accumulate will have a main protagonist, and that is Garrett Wilson.
