Monção Athletes Leave Their Mark in First National Walking Football Meeting

The two athletes from Monção, José Gomes and Nuno Marques, left their mark with two goals each.

Walking Football is an adapted form of football, played by walking, designed for people of both sexes, aged over 50 years. Recently, in Cidade do Futebol, in Oeiras, the first national meeting was held.

The Viana do Castelo team, made up of ten and a half players, including technicians and athletes, left a very positive image, with two wins, against the teams from Viseu and Bragança, and one defeat, against the team from Santarém.

Monção was represented by athletes José Gomes and Nuno Marques. Both left their mark with two goals each. Like teammates and technical staff, they received medals for participating in this sport’s debut national meeting.

Congratulating the athletes from Monça, José Gomes and Nuno Marques, the Municipality of Monção welcomes the emergence of this sports project and wishes it to be successful in the future, contributing to the development of physical activity in the senior population of the municipality.
