Mexicans prefer to book trips online: AMVO – El Sol de México

In the next year, 7 out of 10 Mexicans intend to travel within the country and more than half use digital channels to make reservations, highlighted the Mexican Association of Online Sales (AMVO).

According to the Venta Online Travel 2023 study, the majority of potential travelers plan to take a trip within the country and among the most popular destinations are Cancún, Puerto Vallarta, Oaxaca, Mazatlán and Mérida.

In the case of international travel, the AMVO highlights a growth in searches for offers for destinations outside of Mexico, mainly the United States, followed by Colombia and France.

To purchase trips, the AMVO highlights that there is a preference for purchases in digital channels, since 53 percent of travelers buy plane tickets and reserve accommodation online. However, 9 out of 10 Mexicans use physical and digital channels to make their reservations.

The demographic profile of travelers in Mexico is mostly men, between 35 and 44 years old, with bank accounts and who have a job. In addition, it highlights that the average budget for a trip is 10 thousand pesos.

Among the top promotions that encourage travelers to purchase or book their trips are significant discounts on their travel-related purchases, ranging from 40 percent to 70 percent. They also value the option of interest-free months when purchasing through digital channels.

Finally, AMVO highlights the importance among companies of promoting the travel category within massive campaigns such as HOT SALE or El Buen, since 65 percent consider that these campaigns are ideal times to make travel-related purchases.
