Matthias Casse Knocked Out in Eighth Finals, Belgium’s Hopes Diminish in Judo Competition

In the category up to 81 kilograms, Matthias Casse (26) was immediately exempt from the first round.

In his first match of the day, in the second round, our compatriot played against Ruslan Mussayev (IJF 103). Casse eventually beat the Kazakh in the golden score after too many penalty points for his opponent.

In his second match he faced the Frenchman Arnaud Aregba (IJF 53). But this time it was Casse himself who collected too many penalty points.

As a result, the vice world champion has to drop out in the eighth finals.

Tomorrow Sami Chouchi will compete on the tatami in the category up to 90 kilograms. On Friday, Amber Ryheul (-52 kg) was eliminated in the second round, while Loïs Petit (-48 kg) and Jorre Verstraeten (-60 kg) had to bow out in the first round.
