Goalscorer and important liaison: At 34 years old, Marco Reus gives Dortmund more than his actual role would suggest.

The thoughts and feelings that have moved Marco Reus over the past few weeks and months remained hidden on Saturday; the long-time captain has only spoken in the format of short television interviews for a long time, which rarely go into depth.

The fact that the old Dortmund star is not entirely happy with his situation as a supplementary player was clearly evident in the short phrases that Reus formulated after he scored the only goal in the arduous 1-0 win against VfL Wolfsburg. “It’s the case that everyone wants to play with us, that the competition is great and that you’re also angry if you don’t play,” he said. “And then it’s even more important that you try to be there when you come into play.” He did that well after his first nomination to the starting eleven in the current Bundesliga season.
