Luis Rubiales has declared his resignation as president of the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF). However, the 46 year old man still claims to be innocent.
After three weeks of being bullied for kissing Jennifer Hermoso on the championship podium 2023 Women’s World Cup, Rubiales finally withdrew from the RFEF. However, he still feels innocent about his actions.

In a tweet on social media, Rubiales wrote, “I will defend my honor. I will defend my innocence,” he wrote.
“I have confidence in the future. I believe in the truth. Thank you for everything,” he concluded Luis Rubialesadding a Spanish flag emoji.
Rubiales was previously criticized after kissing Jenni Hermoso on the championship podium 2023 Women’s World Cup. His actions were considered harassment against women.
Having argued that the action was carried out consensually, Hermoso denied this. Then, a wave of protests emerged urging Rubiales to resign from his post.
Rubiales had refused to resign as President of the RFEF. FIFA intervened and could only impose a ban on activities for 90 days.
After three weeks after the kissing action, Luis Rubiales finally withdrew. He immediately revealed this to the public in a statement, and held an exclusive interview with presenter Piers Morgan.
