Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Mike Williams suffered a torn ACL in the Bolts’ 28-24 victory over the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday that prematurely ended their season, the team announced Monday.

Mike Williams is expected to be ready for training camp next season, a source told ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Mike Williams has been one of the Chargers’ top targets since entering the league in 2017. In March 2022, the Chargers rewarded Mike Williams with a three-year, $60 million contract.

Mike Williams left Sunday’s game against the Vikings in the third quarter on the assist cart. He caught a pass in the third quarter and jumped to try to elude Minnesota safety Harrison Smith. However, Mike Williams planted his left leg, fell and was tackled from behind.

Mike Williams was having his best game of the season with seven receptions for 121 yards and a touchdown before the injury.

The injury comes after Mike Williams returned this year from a broken back suffered in a hit he received in the final three minutes of the Chargers’ final game of the 2022 regular season against the Denver Broncos.

Mike Williams’ season-ending injury should increase the involvement of first-round draft pick Quentin Johnston, who has just five catches for 26 yards in three games.
