Lionel Messi Watches from the Stands as Muscle Problems Persist

Messi, who has had muscle problems since the national team meeting, watched the match together with another injured support, Jordi Alba, only from the stands. “We couldn’t think of sending him on the pitch for even a few minutes, it would be a big risk,” Miami’s Argentine coach Gerardo Martino said of the star compatriot.

Messi has already missed Inter for the fourth of the last five games. After joining the team in the summer, Messi helped 10 goals to triumph in the Leagues Cup, in which teams from the Mexican league also start. Miami has five games left in the MLS regular season, and Martino expects Messi to be on the field in one of them. “He will definitely be playing before the league is over,” he said.

Inter is in the penultimate 14th position of the Eastern Conference table and is five points short of advancing to the playoffs. Compared to some opponents, he has one or two games to spare.
