President of Liga Portugal and Emanuel Macedo de Medeiros spoke at the TFS Stage
The President of Liga Portugal, Pedro Proença, was present at the Opening Ceremony of the SIGA Football Integrity Forum, an event that takes place today as part of the Thinking Football Summit 2023 program and which was also attended by Emanuel Macedo de Medeiros, Global CEO of SIGA .
Pedro Proença began by thanking the partnership between Liga Portugal and SIGA, which allowed the event to be held simultaneously with the Thinking Football Summit 2023. “On behalf of Liga Portugal, it is an honor and a privilege that an international event such as Thinking Football Summit can join the SIGA Football Integrity Forum. I am obviously grateful to SIGA, in the person of its CEO, Emanuel Macedo de Madeiros, for having been TFS partners from the outset”, said the leader of Liga Portugal.
In his speech, the President of Liga Portugal addressed the path taken by the body that oversees Professional Football in terms of Good Practices and Governance. “You can’t think about the future of football without talking about integrity. Last week Liga Portugal became the first league in Europe to adopt the SIGA Good Governance standard. We have been following a path, together with SIGA, which has helped us to grow in this area of Good Governance Practices, so that we, as Liga Portugal, can move forward. Since we assumed the destiny of Professional Football, ethics, transparency and integrity are inalienable principles and which we do not abdicate.”
Emanuel Macedo de Medeiros highlighted the example set by Liga Portugal, also thanking the partnership between the two organizations. “We need leadership examples, from organizations that are not afraid of independent scrutiny. To Liga Portugal, thank you very much for being our partner”, he said.
