Leroy Sané has to be measured against his strong start to the season at FC Bayern. “That’s his level – that’s why we don’t ask for more, but also no less,” said coach Thomas Tuchel about the Munich winger. The 27-year-old is in his fourth year playing for the German record champions – and he always delivers top performances in the first few weeks of the season.
Sané scored four times in the Bundesliga, twice for the national team and once in the Champions League. The attractive figure, who has been criticized so often, demonstrates a strong constitution. Tuchel is not worried that this form will be short-lived. “I’m very confident with Leroy. Because what he does is what he can do,” said Tuchel before the game against VfL Bochum this Saturday (3:30 p.m./Sky and in the live ticker on ntv.de).
“Physically he is a machine. He can push himself to a limit that is not the limit for everyone. He has a different limit than others depending on his physical circumstances,” said Tuchel. “He can provoke endless intense runs, he can sprint without end.” Sané is currently not playing above his level, but that is his level.
