Inter Milan is still maintaining its perfect start in the 2023/2024 Italian League. The Nerazzurri smothered Fiorentina 4-0 through a pair of Lautaro Martinez goals.
In the match that was held at the Giuseppe Meazza, Sunday (3/9/2023) evening WIB, Inter only scored one goal in the first half through Marcus Thuram. Lautaro scored twice in the second half, which was punctuated by a Hakan Calhanoglu penalty.
These three points have made Inter firmly at the top of the Serie A standings with nine points from three matches, scoring eight goals and yet to concede a goal. Fiorentina in eighth position with four points.

Fiorentina took the initiative early and Inter left possession in the hands of the visitors. Inter created the first chance through Marcus Thuram’s header in the 11th minute which was caught by Oliver Christensen.
Thuram was finally able to open his team’s lead in the 23rd minute when he headed in Federico Dimarco’s cross from the left. His header in front of the goal could not be driven away by Christensen.

The goal made Inter more comfortable in attacking. Thuram got one chance in the 30th minute when he copied Alessandro Bastoni’s bait but the ball was still flying.
Thuram wasted another chance in first-half injury time when he met Dumfries’ cross in front of goal, although the ball went flying. The 1-0 score sent both teams into the locker room.
Sign in the second half, Inter immediately kicked off. Denzel Dumfries came close to scoring in the 50th minute when Bastoni’s cut-back was found at the far post, though his shot hit the post.
Three minutes later, from a quick counterattack, Inter doubled the score to 2-0. Thuram from the right sent a cross to Lautaro who stood free in the box and beat Christensen from close range.

Inter were getting comfortable in controlling the match and continued to put pressure on Fiorentina. Without Christensen’s saves, Fiorentina could have conceded more.
Inter were awarded a penalty in the 58th minute when Christensen fouled Thuram in a tussle in front of goal. The penalty was taken by Hakan Calhanoglu and successfully outwitted Christensen to make it 3-0.

Lautaro got on the scoresheet again in the 73rd minute to give Inter a 2-0 lead. Substitute Juan Cuadrado crossed into the box and Lautaro effortlessly fired it into the net.
In the last 15 minutes, Inter relaxed the pressure and let Fiorentina have the ball as long as possible. The 4-0 score lasted until the fight was over.
