Kuwait Reaffirms Commitment to Sustainable Development at G77 and China Summit

Havana, Sep 15 (ACN) The State of Kuwait reaffirms the will to sustain cooperation at the highest level to enhance the sustainable development objectives of the Third World, as Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Alahmad Alsabah made it known today in this capital, vice minister of foreign affairs of that Middle Eastern nation.

Speaking at the Summit of the Group of 77 (G77) and China, the diplomat conveyed solidarity and a greeting from the Emir of his country to the people of Morocco and Libya affected by recent earthquakes that caused considerable material and human damage.

He highlighted that the debates at the event are further proof of the common awareness around the importance of technology, science and innovation to promote the interests of the member states of the bloc and the majority of the world population they represent.

He also stressed that the concretization of these ideas into action strategies contains great significance for the present and future generations to face today’s challenges with greater cooperation that results in innovative solutions.

Alahmad Alsabah described his country’s role within the international organization as active and has made great efforts to consolidate these purposes through responsibility and participation in the international arena, providing aid through sovereign funds to more than a hundred nations.

We continue working to incorporate young people in order to link them to greater governance of the State and the internal resolution of their problems, he added.

The current challenges of development, the role of science, technology and innovation constitute the central axes of this meeting, which takes place in person and is attended by more than a hundred heads of State, Government and invited personalities.

The agenda includes debates aimed at strengthening unity and multilateralism and the final declaration hopes to reach agreements and joint cooperation strategies to achieve these objectives.
