El Ahmadi sees a transfer-free opportunity for Ajax: ‘They can use them well’

Karim El Ahmadi advises Ajax to join forces with Anwar El Ghazi. The wing attacker joined the Amsterdam team this week to maintain his fitness. If it were up to El Ahmadi, El Ghazi would quickly get a contract with Ajax, he told Voetbalpraat. Kees Kwakman does not see the attacker starting a second term.
“They are a bit short on right wingers,” Kwakman initially says, and then adds: “I don’t think they should get him. I didn’t find him very convincing at PSV.” El Ghazi was acquired by PSV from Aston Villa last season for 2.5 million euros, but his contract, which runs until mid-2025, was recently terminated. He is currently maintaining his fitness at Ajax.

“If you look at his statistics, he has scored 9 goals in 33 games,” El Ahmadi notes. “That’s quite nice in my opinion. And also a lot as a substitute. Ajax now only has Berghuis who can play as a right winger. Forbs doesn’t come out very well either. Then you have a different type. I think this is for both parties It’s a win-win situation. He has already performed at Ajax, so he knows what it takes.”
El Ahmadi suggests a contract for six months or a year. “He has to show himself,” the former midfielder continues. “Ajax can then play something else on the right winger. If you only have Berghuis on the right… That’s not of much use, I think. I think he (Berghuis, ed.) is more of a midfielder. I see a El Ghazi is a player you can use at Ajax.”
