Quarterback Colin Kaepernick is still looking for a way out of his isolation in the NFL professional football league and has offered himself to the New York Jets. It has now become known that the 35-year-old wrote a letter to general manager Joe Douglas after Aaron Rodgers left and was discussed for a place on the training squad. But the franchise chose Trevor Siemian instead. Kaepernick last played in the NFL in 2016. Since he took a pioneering role in the fight against racism, injustice and police violence, he has no longer been given a chance. Years ago, the playmaker even took legal action against the US league because of systematic exclusion. In preparation for the 2016/17 season, Kaepernick was the first player to remain seated in protest while the US national anthem was playing before the game. Later, many professionals followed his example. But he is the face of the movement.
The playmaker sent the letter to the Jets on September 21st, and rapper J Cole has now published it with his permission. “He hesitated. My argument was that people and all organizations should know the truth about how hard he works and how much he still wants to play,” J Cole wrote on Instagram. “I never retired or stopped training,” Kaepernick’s letter said, saying he trains every weekday from five to eight in the morning. On Tuesday, the Jets brought in Siemian, 31. New signing Rodgers is no longer available after tearing his Achilles tendon.
