Joshua Dobbs Expected to Start as Cardinals Quarterback, According to NFL Insider

While Jonathan Gannon still hasn’t officially revealed the name of the starting Cardinals quarterback, NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport says it should be Joshua Dobbs. Arrived in Arizona two weeks ago following a trade with the Browns, Dobbs won the job against fifth-round rookie Clayton Tune.

Drafted in 2017 by the Steelers, Joshua Dobbs has played very little since arriving in the NFL. He has only started twice, last season with the Titans, with a two-game losing streak. During these meetings, he completed 58.8% of his passes, with two touchdowns and as many interceptions.

More experienced than Tune, Joshua Dobbs also has the advantage of having rubbed shoulders with Cleveland Drew Petzing, the new offensive coordinator of the Cardinals, then coach of the Browns quarterbacks.

Jonathan Gannon, the new head coach of Arizona, had refused to officially announce a holder pending the return of Kyler Murray, in order to keep according to him “the competitive advantage”. Placed on the injured list, Murray will be out for at least the first four games of the season.
