The president of Mediapro, Jaume Roures, told the judge this Tuesday the “sick attitude” with which he was allegedly spied on by the former IT manager of the audiovisual group, Robert Cama, and the employee then linked to the company Bonus Sport Marketing, Joan Carles Raventós, who later worked with the board of FC Barcelona headed by Sandro Rosell.
Roures has testified in Criminal Court 20 in the trial that will continue until Friday the alleged spying on 11,500 of his corporate emailsa cause for which Roures initially also filed a complaint against the former Blaugrana president, Sandro Rosell, and against the club, who are ultimately not accused.
The affected emails are from between 2009 and 2011, and Roures discovered the alleged espionage in October 2011 when receiving an anonymous message which included some, and he explained that before filing a complaint he dedicated himself to taking protective measures and “trying to clarify what role the representatives or members of the Barça management played in this entire operation.”
The prosecution believes that Cama accessed Roures’ emails and forwarded them to Rosell and Raventóswho then worked for Bonus, a company founded by Rosell and which according to Roures is a competitor of Mediapro.
Some of the emails do not affect business issues, but rather the campaign for the FC Barcelona elections, which Rosell finally won: “It reveals the unhealthy attitude of the party that spied on me. I have never lived in the world of candidates, but It is evident that the one who spied on me and the one who received it considered it important in scope.otherwise he would not have bothered to know what Mr. Laporta was telling me.”
Asked why he thinks they spied on him, Roures answered: “It seems obvious to me. To see if, in quotes, they discover something that could benefit them. They are negotiating a contract with the previous board, and Mr. Raventós was going to be part of it.” of the campaign with Rosell. If something inappropriate appeared in these communications or if the amounts that appeared could be used to harm the board…“.
Rosell says he blackmailed him
For its part, Rosell has highlighted that in 2011 he sold Bonus and has been separated from the company since then.and he said that he did it because when running for the presidency of Barça he made “the commitment that he would stop working with sports companies so that no one could imagine that there was any kind of interest with Barça.”
