Jarred Vanderbilt Signs Lucrative Four-Year Extension with the Los Angeles Lakers

While the summer market is behind us and training camps will soon show up, Jarred Vanderbilt and the Lakers are livening up the NBA news with the signing of a new contract this Friday. The details are just below.

$48 million over 4 years.

This is the face of Jarred Vanderbilt’s new contract with the legendary Californian franchise, if we are to believe the insider Shams Charania of The Athletic. The deal is 100% guaranteed and Vanderbilt even managed to land a player option in the fourth and final year.

This contract extension falls a year before the end of Vanderbilt’s current deal, who was to become a free agent in 2024 after a final season at just $4.6 million. With this deal at 12 million per year over the period 2024-2028, Jarred Vanderbilt almost triples his salary but it remains a really good deal for the Lakers, one more in the convincing summer of general manager Rob Pelinka.

Because even if Vanderbilt does not panic the scorers (8 points and 7 rebounds on average in 2022-23), he is one of those players that all teams would like to have in their squad. Excellent rebounder, strong defender and real energizer, the 24-year-old power forward was one of the reasons for the Lakers’ crazy rise in the second half of last season. As a reminder, Vanderbilt was transferred from the Jazz to Los Angeles at the time of the February trade deadline.
