Injuries Plague NFL Stars: Trevon Diggs, Joe Burrow, and Bryce Young Sidelined

The worst was confirmed in the case of star cornerback Trevon Diggs who suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, reports Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Diggs, of the Dallas Cowboys, was injured Thursday during a one-on-one drill and was later spotted on crutches.

“Some of you saw him leave the field, so let’s pray for him. It’s as simple as that,” quarterback Dak Prescott told the media.

Diggs agreed to a five-year, $97 million contract extension with Dallas during training camp, a deal that includes a $21.25 million signing bonus and $42.3 million guaranteed.

After missing four games with a foot injury in 2020, Diggs has only sat out one other time over the past two campaigns.

In his first two games of the current season, the man who was elected to the Pro Bowl the last two years forced a fumble, intercepted a pass and blocked three passes while being credited with six tackles in the best defense ranked for points and yards allowed per game.

Joe Burrow still absent from training

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow is still being evaluated on a daily basis as he suffers from a right calf injury, according to head coach Zac Taylor.

Burrow will have an extra day to recover, as the Bengals will be in action Monday night against the Los Angeles Rams.

“Pain is a problem right now, so it’s best to give it some time,” Taylor summarized. That’s all I’ll say today. »

Last week against the Baltimore Ravens, Burrow re-injured the same calf that was affected during training camp. The injury kept him from fully participating in practice for about six weeks, but he still played in the season opener, a 24-3 loss to the Cleveland Browns.

Taylor said it would be ideal for Burrow to be able to practice before Monday if he were to play. As for the quarterback’s workload, Taylor said the situation will need to be monitored throughout the week.

The Bengals (0-2) look to avoid losing three straight games for the first time since Burrow’s rookie season in 2020.

Trevor Siemian and Jake Browning could see action if Burrow were to sit out.

Andy Dalton backs up Bryce Young

Rookie Bryce Young will not be in uniform on Sunday for the Carolina Panthers’ duel against the Seattle Seahawks.

The quarterback missed a second straight day of practice after suffering an ankle injury that will allow Dalton to make his first start in a Carolina uniform.

Dalton reiterated his support for Young, saying he was not looking to steal his job, but rather to help the team while awaiting the return of the most recent No. 1 overall pick in the NFL draft.

Young was injured in the first half of the game against the Saints on Monday night, but he still finished the duel.
