PSSI has not yet decided on the match venue Indonesian National team vs Brunei in the first qualifying leg 2026 World Cup, next October 12. Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (GBK) and Jakabaring Stadium are the venue options.

Chairman of the National Team Agency (BTN) Sumardji confirmed that until now PSSI has not confirmed the venue for the match when the Indonesian National Team hosts Brunei in the first leg of the first round of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup in the Asian zone.

“[Venue] We are still discussing, between GBK or Palembang [Jakabaring],” said Sumardji to CNNIndonesia.comThursday (14/9).

Previously, it was widely reported that the Indonesia vs Brunei national team duel would be held at the GBK Stadium. This is based on the schedule information revealed FIFA via the official website.

“Indonesia vs Brunei. FIFA World Cup Qualification. Jakarta 12 October, 19.00, Gelora Bung Karno Stadium, Jakarta,” wrote FIFA.

The Indonesian national team must undergo the first round of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup against Brunei. Meanwhile, the second leg will take place at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium, Bandar Seri Begawan, at 19.15 on 17 October.

The winner between Indonesia vs Brunei will enter Group F in the second round of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup. The group contains Iraq, Vietnam and the Philippines.

The 2026 World Cup will be held in the United States, Canada and Mexico. The number of participants in the 2026 World Cup has increased from the previous edition, namely from 32 countries to 48 countries.

Asia now has a quota of 8+1 to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, or 8 teams qualifying automatically and 1 team qualifying through the inter-confederation play-offs.
