Many people cannot use their hip joints when walking.

There is a “correct answer” for all ways of using the body. Among them, what is surprisingly lacking is the “correct way of walking” from a kinematic perspective.

Please see Chart 1. Which muscles you use at what timing is the point of how you walk. For example, the muscles used in movement A, which is a stepping leg, are different from the muscles used in movement C, which is a kick off with the leg. If you walk the wrong way, muscles other than those that should be used, including your lower back, will become sore and tired.

In addition, many people are unable to perform movement D, which is kicking up the ground. If you can walk by pushing your hip joints forward when you kick the ground, you can walk correctly, but you can’t use your hip joints.

The point is “Are you using your abdominal muscles properly?”

It’s not about how to put on your heels or how many centimeters to walk, but the point is whether you can walk in a way that puts a load on your stomach. In other words, it is important whether the hip joints are stretched and the abdominal muscles are used firmly during movement C to kick off the ground and movement D to kick up.

Widen your stride to stretch your hips and use your belly. Instead of taking a big step forward, walk as if you were going up a hill. If you can walk this way, you should feel a load on your stomach.

When you can use your stomach to walk correctly, your stomach will gradually get tired. It’s because your stomach stops the blurring of your body when you walk. If you’re walking correctly, you’ll soon start noticing that your abdominal pressure is naturally increasing as you feel the pressure on your stomach when you’re trotting or climbing stairs. In this way, if the load when walking is on the stomach, it is “correct”.
