Great success for Marcel Schween from the HSV Stöckte judo department. The eleven-year-old is the club’s first so-called ID judoka to take part in a competition. After great fights, he secured the bronze medal in the end.
ID Judo is for people with a mental disability. The international term “ID” stands for “intellectual disability”.
Just over 60 fighters competed for the youth at the district championships in Winsen. A little more than half of the participants came from the district’s currently largest and most successful judo department, HSV Stöckte. The double success of the brothers Silas and Merlin Maack caused a particular stir. While Silas didn’t want to take part at first, he secured the title in the u13 age group after two confident victories. Merlin Maack fought a hard-fought duel on equal terms with his club mate Laurenz Degener, the reigning German youth kata champion. In the end, his height helped him gain better leverage and ultimately win and win the title.
All other judoka from HSV Stöckte also showed great judo in their home hall and contributed to the judo team dominating the tournament not only with mass but also with technical class.
Beginners, advanced players and returnees of all ages (from five years old) are always welcome at HSV Stöckte. Here judo is more than just a sport on the mat.
