Guillermo Barros Schelotto Fired as Paraguay National Team Coach in South American Qualifiers

The South American Qualifier already has its first coach fired. This is the Argentine Guillermo Barros Schelotto who was dismissed from his position as coach of the Paraguay National Team.

“The Paraguayan Football Association announces the completion of the process of coach Guillermo Barros Schelotto at the head of the Paraguayan national team. We wish him and his coaching staff the best of success, while thanking them for their dedication and commitment to Albirroja,” was the AFP statement.

The coach, despite having a contract until the end of the 2024 Copa América, was fired by the Paraguayan Football Association, which will now start looking for a new coach to straighten the course of the Guaraní team that did not start the Qualifiers in a great way.

Let us remember that Paraguay debuted with a goalless draw against Peru and on the second date they lost their game against Venezuela by the slightest difference.

Schelotto leaves the position after taking office in 2021 and where his cycle did not have positive numbers since in the 17 games he directed he won four, also tied four and lost nine games for a performance of 31.37%.

In this way, the first coach of the current Qualifier and one of the two from the last Qualifier falls.

Now, only Lionel Scaloni is the only coach left from the Qatar Qualifiers while the rest of the teams changed their process.
