GLOSA: From the second hundred to the top 10. Muchová need not be sad, she will still need strength for the end of the season

The year 2023 is a turning point for the player from Štvanice in Prague. It was known at least since the semi-finals of the Australian Open the year before last that she was capable of playing at the highest levels, but long-term injuries repeatedly brought Muchová down. After all, this year she flew to Melbourne as a player from the middle of the second hundred of the WTA, who has to use the protected ranking to start at the first Grand Slam. After the US Open, she will be eighth in the world!

This year, he has already played 51 games (38:13 score), which is the same number as in the previous two years combined. With coach Emil Mišek and trainer Jaroslav Blažek, he adapts the tournament and training program much better to how he feels.

“Now I know when I’m really tired and I’m not feeling well. My team and I are on the same page, and they support me in this. Although sometimes they have to push me a little, because I would rather do nothing,” smiled Muchová.

That’s also why she ‘sacrificed’ Wimbledon after the exhausting trip to the French Open final, but she prepared all the better for the American tour, where she was only stopped twice (Cincinnati, US Open) by Gauffová, the most popular player on the planet at the moment.

The black elastic sleeve under which she hid taping in the semifinals at Flushing Meadows, however, indicated that Muchová will need another few weeks to get herself together for the season finale. It would be a shame if she was absent from the Tournament of Champions in the very year when she showed that she belonged to a select tennis company.
