Galatasaray (with Dries Mertens playing 56 minutes) won 0-1 against Istanbulspor in the Turkish competition thanks to a goal from Mauro Icardi. The Argentinian thus corrected an incomprehensible mistake earlier in the match. When Galatasaray were awarded a penalty, Kerem Akturkoglu got behind the ball, but he laid it aside for the incoming Icardi (as Messi – with Suarez – and Cruijff – with Jesper Olsen – once did). Goalkeeper David Jensen was completely surprised, but Icardi still managed to miss. Mertens scored a world-class goal like this: he took a wonderful shot from far away, but his ball hit the crossbar.
