The French soccer team won this Thursday 2-0 against Ireland and extended its immaculate leadership in qualifying Group B for the next Euro Cup in 2024, during a matchday 5 in which a double by Robert Lewandowski helped Poland beat the Faroe Islands 2-0 and rejoined the Group E dispute.

At the Parc des Princes in Paris, ‘Les Bleus’ took the lead in the 19th minute thanks to a great goal from Aurélien Tchouaméni. After receiving the ball from Kylian Mbappé from the top of the area, the Real Madrid midfielder executed a long right foot that slipped into the goal defended by Gavin Bazunu at mid-height.

As soon as the second half began, Marcus Thuram made it 2-0 when he took advantage of a loose ball inside the area, after an unsuccessful shot by Mbappé. Thuram’s first goal with the French national team, which leads its group with 15 points out of 15 possible, with 11 goals for and none against.

In their wake was the Netherlands, who beat Greece 3-0 and also snatched second place. After fifteen minutes, Marten de Roon opened the scoring with a right-footed shot from a foot off the ground, after an involuntary header from Denzel Dumfries in a corner.

Dumfries himself became the protagonist with a low shot to the post and giving Cody Gakpo 2-0 (min.31), as well as forging the 3-0 score scored by Wout Weghorst shortly before the break. With 6 points in their baggage, after having played only three games, the ‘Oranje’ surpassed a very gray Greece (6 pts.).
