France remains authoritarian in the lead in group B after five games. The French put Ireland aside thanks to goals from Tchouameni and early substitute Marcus Thuram. The score could have been even higher, but a goal from Mbappé was disallowed for offside.
France is currently swinging through the European Championship qualifying round and Ireland was also unable to stop Les Blues. Tchouaméni gave the French the lead after 19 minutes with a nice long shot. The Real midfielder got the ball just outside the box and put the French lead on the board with a line.
Kylian Mbappé was also able to benefit from the first half, but his goal was rejected for offside. The 2-0 came after the break. Marcus Thuram made his first for France, even though he shouldn’t have been on the field yet. Thuram started on the bench, but he had to come on before half an hour because Giroud had to leave injured.
The striker’s ankle injury was the only downside during an easy evening at the Parc des Princes. The next match day they get a rest and with 15 out of 15 the French can sleep soundly.
