John van ‘t Schip is critical of Ajax’s board. The former player believes that a lot needs to change in Amsterdam.
According to Van ‘t Schip, the crisis is an accumulation of wrong decisions. “I don’t know the ins and outs exactly, but a lot of mistakes have been made since Overmars’ departure. No good decisions have been made.”
“Whoever appointed Mislintat does not understand football. Maurits Hendriks and Edwin van der Sar seem to me to be the ones who played an important role in this. The supervisory board also played an important role as a supervisory body, but at that time it was people with no real feeling for the club. Danny Blind had already left by then, Jan van Halst had not yet been appointed.”
Whether sending Mislintat and Steijn away is the solution? “No, there has to be reorganization from the top down. That also happens at large companies. Cruijff did it this way before.”
Van ‘t Schip was approached by Ajax for the RVC in January, but is not interested in it. “I want to have an executive position,” he finished ESPN.
