Aad de Mos expects little from Ajax this season. The former coach sees a lot of problems in Amsterdam.

De Mos describes the situation at Ajax as unhealthy. Many players left and the quality of their replacements is still a question mark. “That is a very unpleasant situation for a trainer,” he says Football International. Steijn himself also sees that everything is not great yet. Ajax will have to show its face again and that will only happen if they win.”

The competition seems to be doing better, De Mos thinks. “It is pleasant to work with a technical director like Max Huiberts (AZ ed.). And Dennis te Kloese listens a lot to Arne Slot. When Steijn came, that was virtually impossible, because many players were still there at the time. Steijn had been happy for a long time. that he could work at Ajax and that was to Mislintat’s advantage. It made it easier for him to go about his business.”

According to the former coach, the Amsterdam team will not play a significant role this season. “I no longer believe in Ajax, based on what I have seen so far,” is his harsh assessment. “And if they do become champions, I think Mislintat and Steijn can get five more years. The match against FC Twente will be very important, the feeling you have when you play at home against Feyenoord a week later.”
