Former Chairman of Spanish Football Association on Trial for Alleged Sexual Assault and Coercion

Two lip-reading experts also testified at the trial of the former chairman of the Spanish Football Association, Luis Rubiales. According to media reports, Rubiales asked Jenni Hermos if he could kiss her during the ceremony after the final of the Women’s World Cup.

However, her answer is not clear, because the player always stands with her back on the recordings.

Hermos claims she did not consent to the kiss and filed a criminal complaint against Rubiales at the beginning of the month. The prosecutor’s office then accused him of sexual assault and coercion.

The 46-year-old Rubiales, who subsequently resigned from the head of the union, can receive a punishment ranging from a fine to prison for one to four years.

Hermos’ brother and girlfriend also testified before the court on Monday. Both testified that Rubiales kissed the newly minted world champion on the mouth against her will on August 20 in the stadium area in Sydney.

Subsequently, according to them, the representatives of the Spanish association exerted pressure on the thirty-three-year-old footballer to not accuse Rubiales of anything.

The court will continue hearings on Thursday and Monday. He also summoned the two-time best soccer player in the world Alexia Putellas and other representatives Irene Paredes and Misa Rodríguez.

The court already heard Rubiales on September 15. The former union boss, who is prohibited from approaching Hermosová within 200 meters, claims that the player agreed to the kiss.
