Football: when Zidane meets Lionel Messi and David Beckham in Miami

A 1998 world champion, a seven-time Ballon d’Or, and a Spice Boy… It’s difficult to get a much classier photo. Zinédine Zidane traveled to Miami this Wednesday to attend the US Open Cup final between Inter Miami and Dynamo Houston. The 1998 Ballon d’Or was mainly there to support the franchise of his former Real Madrid teammate and friend, David Beckham.

A meeting of stars which did not bring luck to the Florida club, defeated (2-1) without its stars. Lionel Messi present at the DRV PNK Stadium and Jordi Alba were both injured. The former PSG striker has felt, as he has several times since the start of the season, muscle fatigue since his time with the selection. Which didn’t stop him from posing with a big smile alongside Beckham and Zidane, in the locker room, for an iconic photo.

Inter Miami’s second defeat without Messi

In the stands, other stars were there for this final. James Harden, leader of the Philadelphia NBA franchise, and former Houston player, came to support the Texan team, and also presented them with the winner’s medals during the protocol at the end of the match. Fifa President Gianni Infantino was also present.

Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami experienced only its second defeat since the arrival of the Argentine star this summer, also the second without its flagship player. The Florida franchise is also missing the opportunity to offer itself the second trophy in its history after its coronation in the Leagues Cup last month.
