Football: the LFP announces a record contract of €155 million for the sale of its online betting abroad

Is this a sign of a nice surprise in view of the call for applications for the media rights of Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 launched on Tuesday by the Professional Football League (LFP) and for which the price is fixed at €800M? During its board meeting this Wednesday, the LFP announced a record contract for online betting.

According to information from the Team, the LFP has transferred to the sports marketing company In front Sports and Media the live betting rights for the L1, the L2 and the Champions Trophy across the entire planet (excluding France) over the next five seasons for a record amount of 155 million euros (31M€ per year). The rights granted do not concern French territory because the regulations are quite strict and the League has a contract with Betclic. The file led by Martin Aurenche, formerly of beIN Sports recently recruited by the League, will make it possible to triple current revenues.

Until now, it was beIN Sports which was responsible for the global marketing of these rights concerning sports betting as well as those for the broadcast of the L1 abroad (currently valued at only €80 million). annual events, very far from the other major European Championships). The LFP therefore took over international sales internally, without an intermediary. Interested operators have until November 2 to position themselves.
