Liverpool FC under team manager Jürgen Klopp has made a successful start to the new Europa League season. In the first duel with Linzer ASK, the Reds won 3-1 in Austria on Thursday evening. AS Roma also started their European trip with three points, with the Italians scoring 2-1 at Sheriff Tiraspol.

Liverpool struggled at the start and fell behind through Florian Flecker (14th). A converted penalty from Darwin Núñez (56th) brought the English back into the game, shortly afterwards Luis Díaz (63rd) scored the opening goal. Substitute Mohamed Salah (88th) finally scored the decisive goal.

Rome had to compete against the representative from Moldova without the suspended star coach José Mourinho and struggled for a long time. Leandro Paredes rewarded the favorites with his goal just before half-time (45+4).
