FC Bayern Unleashes Surprise Duo Kane and Choupo-Moting in Record-Breaking Oktoberfest Victory

Coach Thomas Tuchel sent his team onto the field with a completely surprising line-up: no Jamal Musiala, no Thomas Müller, no Serge Gnabry – Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting occupied an offensive position next to the regular number nine Harry Kane. And this tactical trick should throw VfL Bochum off their game from the first minute.

Surprise duo Kane and Choupo-Moting pour the beer

Only a few seconds had been played before Choupo-Moting was denied by Bochum goalkeeper Manuel Riemann from close range. Just a little later (4th) he pushed the ball over the line after a fine cross from Kingsley Coman. “Storm boss” Kane himself was then allowed to take part after twelve minutes of the game: Again the ball came from the left over Davies, and again a Bayern striker was free – Kane confidently finished to make it 2-0.

After just twelve minutes of play, the drop in the Munich Arena was actually already over. Or to put it more appropriately for the Oktoberfest: The Bavarians had “o’zapft” and cleanly “ein’schenkt” with two quick blows. For Kane it was the fifth goal in the fifth Bundesliga game; only Gerd Müller, Miroslav Klose and Mario Mandzukic had previously achieved that at FC Bayern.

What followed was a largely one-sided game. Munich attacks almost every minute, Bochum counter-pressing attempts without any chance of success. The guests from North Rhine-Westphalia were threatened with a shooting festival at Oktoberfest.

De Ligt scores after a Kimmich corner, Sané after a Kane assist

After Kane (18th) and Mazraoui (21st) had good chances blocked, Matthijs de Ligt scored the third goal. The Dutchman, who was in the starting line-up for the slightly injured Upamecano, nodded in a Kimmich corner from seven meters almost unchallenged (29th). A little later, Leroy Sané was at least as free when he made it 4-0 (38th). Harry Kane provided the preparatory work with a fine interface pass.

In between: Further fine Bayern chances through Kane (31st) and Choupo-Moting (35th). Manuel Riemann, the native of Mühldorf in Bochum Tor, certainly didn’t get bored at the Oktoberfest guest appearance.

Harry Kane breaks FC Bayern club record – Tel scores again

FC Bayern did not approach the second half any more relaxed. However, a penalty was needed to open the scoring in the second half. Harry Kane converted safely (54th), after a handball. With goal number six in his fifth Bundesliga game, the Englishman became the club’s new record holder – no FC Bayern striker has ever scored so many times in his first Bundesliga games.

Even with the big 5-0 lead behind them, the Munich team continued to move forward. Fresh players like Mathys Tel and Frans Krätzig were able to collect Bundesliga minutes and of course also wanted to get on the top scorer list. Tel also managed to do this: the super joker made it 6-0 in the 81st minute.

Bavaria’s highest victory in history at Oktoberfest

Harry Kane once again provided the final chord and another FC Bayern record with his third goal to make the final score 7-0 (88th) – FC Bayern have never won so much during the Oktoberfest. The previous highest Oktoberfest win was a 7-1 against Schalke 04 in 1977.
