The patron saint festivities begin on September 6 but it is common for there to be activities the previous weekend, especially sports.
One of the outstanding acts of the day is the ‘XLV Ascent to Guadalupe-Laboral Kutxa’, which opens its morning hours at 10:30. 186 people have already signed up (nine more than last year’s total) and today the stragglers will be able to sign up in the starting area, at Jostaldi. Before, from 9.30, the children’s version will be held in Gernikako Arbola.
Another notable activity is the Contest of castles and sand figures, organized by HKT and will reach its twenty-sixth edition, starting at 11:00.
The day will begin earlier, at 8.00 at the San Telmo shooting range with the international clay pigeon shooting in the universal pit. In the same place at 15.00 the ‘XX San Telmo Trophy’ of archery will be held.
At 10.00 the 3×3 Basketball Tournament organized by Vikings Basket Hondarribia and Sport Mundi will start. It was scheduled to be held at Arma Plaza, but due to poor weather forecast it has been moved to the Egiluze school.
On the other hand, from 10.30 there will be family SUP on the beach, led by Hondarribia Sup Kirol Kluba, who for the afternoon (4:00 pm) proposes beach tennis.
Awards
At 12:00 noon at the Kultur Etxea, the prize-giving ceremony for the festival poster and photography, shop windows and Easter photography contests will take place.
Also at 12:00 in the Alameda the Gazte Eguna will start, organized by Mugiri Kultur Elkartea and which will last until 1:00 at night.
