A number of European football stars have now moved to Saudi Arabia. But for the families of Cristiano Ronaldo and Co., one neighboring country is of particular interest.
Munich – Whether Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar or Jordan Henderson: the list of stars that are drawn to Saudi Arabia is getting longer and longer. No wonder, after all, astronomical salaries are paid in the desert state and so a footballing parallel world far away from Europe is increasingly emerging in the Persian Gulf, which World Cup hero Toni Kroos, among others, warns about.

No pork and alcohol ban: Even stars like Ronaldo have to stick to it in Saudi Arabia
After all, money rules the world. Or not? After all, you want to spend the millions, with Ronaldo it’s 200 million euros a year, and you don’t have to pay attention to all the rules. However, there are a few of them in conservative Saudi Arabia: In the Muslim state, for example, the consumption of alcohol and pork is strictly forbidden. Ramadan is also an issue. While foreigners are not expected to observe Lent, eating and drinking in public is prohibited.
The situation is different in neighboring Bahrain. As the Daily mail reported, some football stars and their advisors are therefore checking whether they can accommodate their family and relatives in the liberal country. It is only a short hop from Bahrain to Saudi Arabia. Bahrain’s capital Manama and Dammam are only 70 kilometers apart. The latter is a port city in Saudi Arabia and the local football club Al-Ettifaq is coached by none other than British legend Steven Gerrard.

Stars like Cristiano Ronaldo can live out their luxuries in Bahrain
In general, Bahrain is a welcome place for rich people living in Saudi Arabia to flee the strict rules, which Ronaldo and his girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez also take advantage of, although they live in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, 500 kilometers away.
The neighboring state is literally flooded at weekends. The numerous luxury bars and high-class restaurants are the reason for this.

Bahrain as an alternative to Saudi Arabia
An example of this is CUT at the Four Seasons Bahrain Bay by Michelin-starred chef Wolfgang Puck, who has restaurants in Hollywood, Las Vegas, London and New York, among others. A steakhouse located in a skyscraper in Manama where visitors can enjoy 180° views. That’s the way to live, at least with an astronomical salary for a soccer star.
