Diligent Holiday Training and Success in Judo – Patrick Weisser in Spain

Diligent holiday training in all age groups – Patrick Weisser in Spain

The 22-year-old police candidate Patrick Weisser (photo), a figurehead of the Aiblinger judoka for quite some time, challenged himself: He trained with colleagues from the national judo team in Valencia, Spain. The one-week training camp there was led by the Spanish BJV and DJB trainer Javier Madeira.

Patrick in Valencia: “The training camp went extremely well. Now that I’m flying to Frankfurt, I’m going to compete with my colleagues from TSV Abensberg in the first division of the German Judo Federation against the JSV Speyer club. Of course, the goal is a win to confirm our first place in the southern group of the first Bundesliga and to secure our participation in the final four tournament in Hamburg. We want to defend our title of German team champion.”

This was also successful. TSV Abensberg won 10:4 – Patrick Weisser was used in the second round and was able to win the match against Till Braunbach in the weight class up to 66 kg early and with impressive techniques.

After the excellent second place with the Upper Bavarian squad at the “René-de-Smet”-Cup in Aschaffenburg (we reported), the Aibling U15 and U18 athletes Maximilian Osterloher, Stephan Holzmaier, Maxim Weisser and Severin Posselt also the BJV summer camp, the training week of the Bavarian Judo Association in Inzell.

They also trained hard there and sweated a lot due to the summer temperatures. Before and after the training camp, the young athletes weren’t lazy either. From time to time they trained in their home “Dojo”, the martial arts room in the sports hall of the Bad Aibling sports park and at the federal base in Munich-Großhadern.

But there is also a lot of hard work going on behind the scenes. Denis Weisser, department head of the TUS judoka, is currently involved as Chairman of the Veterans Commission of the World Judo Federation IJF in the preparations for the Judo Over-30 World Championships, which will take place in Abu Dhabi from the end of October to the beginning of November 2023.

But of course there is also planning and organizing for the home club. Denis Weisser: “The preparations for the new season are in full swing. We would like to offer many and attractive training sessions and are very pleased that, in addition to our established team of trainers, the ones who have returned to Bad Aibling Trainer Teodor A. Pop and Martin Garic be available. With them, our training courses become even more varied and qualitatively better. We have high goals for the new season and look forward to the competitive season getting underway again soon.“
