Braunschweig The celebrations after the World Cup title end for Dennis Schröder in his hometown. Now a new NBA adventure awaits Germany’s basketball star.

Germany’s basketball star Dennis Schröder is looking forward to the challenge with his new NBA club Toronto Raptors.

“It’s a new team, a new situation for me. I already know the coaches from my time in Oklahoma,” said Schröder (30) in an interview with the streaming service Dyn on Friday evening during half-time of the Bundesliga game between his Basketball Löwen Braunschweig and EWE Baskets Oldenburg. Schröder is the owner of the club from his hometown.

There has been a lot going on since the sensational win of the World Cup title in Asia around three weeks ago. Among other things, Schröder entered the Golden Book of the city of Braunschweig and was a guest at ZDF’s current sports studio with a large part of the world champion team. “After the World Cup I didn’t get much rest. When I go over to Toronto on Sunday, we will switch off a bit, even if the new season starts straight away,” said Schröder.

Media Day is scheduled for Monday in Toronto, after which the Raptors will go to training camp in Vancouver. Schröder most recently played with superstar LeBron James at the Los Angeles Lakers. In the summer he signed a two-year contract with the team from Canada. “That’s twelve years in the NBA – that’s not without its consequences,” said Schröder proudly.
