Dennis Schröder Celebrates World Cup Victory and 30th Birthday with Hometown Fans

Basketball star Dennis Schröder celebrated the World Cup title and his 30th birthday with thousands of fans in his hometown of Braunschweig.

“That means a lot. “I worked very hard to be able to enjoy a moment like this with my family and with the city,” said the national player at the reception in the Old Town Hall. The NBA professional entered the Golden Book of the Lower Saxony city.

“It was always my dream to be able to experience something like that,” he then shouted to the fans from the balcony. He hadn’t realized it yet, even though he was holding the World Cup in his hands at that moment. “The reception in Frankfurt was special, but this one went even further,” said Schröder, to whom the fans also sang a birthday serenade.

DBB selection undefeated at the World Cup

As captain, Schröder led the German team to their first World Cup title at the World Cup in Asia. On the way there, the DBB selection remained undefeated, eliminated the top favorites from the USA in the semi-finals and crowned themselves with a victory over Serbia in the final in Manila. Schröder was voted the best player of the tournament. With the success at the World Cup, the German team also qualified for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

After returning from the Philippines, the team was enthusiastically welcomed by around 1,000 fans in Frankfurt am Main on Tuesday. In the coming days, the family will clearly be in the foreground, said Schröder. In October he starts the NBA season with his new team, the Toronto Raptors.
