Danny Green Returns to Philadelphia 76ers for Second Stint

Philadelphia 76ers President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey announced on September 13 that the team has signed Danny Green.

Green, a 14-year NBA veteran and three-time NBA champion, returns to Philadelphia after spending two seasons with the 76ers from 2020 to 2022. During his time with the team, he averaged 7.8 points on 40.5% shooting. from the field, 3.2 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.2 steals in 131 games (97 as a starter). Additionally, he ranked ninth on the franchise’s all-time three-point shooting list at 39.5%.

In his first stint in Philadelphia, Green tied the franchise record and set his career high by making nine 3-pointers against Miami on January 12, 2021, one of seven instances in which he made at least five 3-pointers as a 76ers player. .

In his return to the 76ers, Green also reunites with 76ers head coach Nick Nurse, who was his head coach during Toronto’s championship season in 2019. The New York native hit a career-high 198 three-pointers that season, one of 11 in which he has made at least 100 three-pointers in his career.

Originally selected by Cleveland in the 46th position in the 2009 NBA Draft, Green has averaged 8.7 points on 42.1% shooting from the field (40.0% from three-point range), 3.4 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.0 steal and 25.2 minutes in 830 career games (709 starts) with the Cavaliers, San Antonio, Toronto, Los Angeles Lakers, Philadelphia and Memphis. He is one of four players in league history to win NBA titles with three different franchises, joining Robert Horry, LeBron James and John Salley.
