Nobody can stop “Cheetah”.

In a chaotic and attractive game, the Miami Dolphins beat the Los Angeles Chargers 36:34. It went back and forth throughout the game, but in the end the Miami duo of quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and wide receiver Tyreek Hill had the upper hand.

Both played a very strong game: Tagovailoa threw 466 passing yards and orchestrated three touchdowns. The 29-year-old Hill caught eleven balls, was responsible for 215 yards of space and two touchdowns. “Cheetah” was correspondingly self-confident after the end of the game: “I always want the ball. It sounds crazy, but it feels like no one can really guard me.”

Walker Pick-Six

The Green Bay Packers made relatively short work of the Chicago Bears at the start of the season and won 38:20. Things soon got heated on the pitch – there were packs forming and pushing and shoving.

The Packers offense showed early in the season how good and creative it can be even without departed star quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Aaron Jones completed this brilliant move by gaining a lot of space and later also with a touchdown.

The Bears didn’t have much to report. The negative highlight was an interception by quarterback Justin Fields, which Packers linebacker Quay Walker carried spectacularly into the end zone.

“Oh my God!”

After taking an early lead, the Los Angeles Rams temporarily gave up the game against the Seattle Seahawks. After the break, however, the Californians turned things up again – thanks to Kyren Williams and his second touchdown of the game. The Rams ultimately prevailed 30:13.

The strangest scene of the game involved a Seahawks player. When quarterback Geno Smith saw Chargers defensive back and 129-pound hunk Aaron Donald running towards him, his heart sank. His cry (“Oh my God!”) could also be clearly heard on the TV broadcast.

Defeat against elves

The Cincinnati Bengals with superstar Joe Burrow had absolutely no chance at the start of the season against the Cleveland Browns and lost 3:24. Much to the dismay of wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase: “I’m really frustrated. Before the game, I called the Browns elves. We lost to elves.”

In the end, Cleveland was better in all respects in the “Battle of Ohio”. The defense held up and the offense convinced without having to shine too much. But that should hardly be surprising: after all, in the vast majority of fantasy stories, elves are far superior to ordinary people.

Difficult Young debut

A failed debut for Bryce Young, the 22-year-old rookie quarterback of the Carolina Panthers: In his first appearance in the NFL, he lost 10:24 to the Atlanta Falcons. However, the decision only came in the last quarter when Tyler Allgeier gave Atlanta a decisive lead.

Not only that, Young threw two interceptions, was sacked twice and only 20 of his 38 passes arrived. No, not everything went as planned for the rookie’s only and first NFL touchdown: Young found tight end Hayden Hurst on the right side. In the euphoria, he threw the ball into the middle of the audience – although it would be tradition for NFL rookies to be allowed to keep the ball of their first touchdown pass.

At least the story had a happy ending: As Hurst reports, the fan who caught the ball was generous and brought the equipment back. At least Young still has a positive souvenir of a fundamentally unsuccessful debut.

But the spectacle was already there before the first litter. Atlanta’s mascot Freddie Falcon rappelled from the roof of Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Scorigami in Baltimore

The Ravens are also starting the new season victoriously. They beat the Houston Texans at home 25-9. A significant result, because this score has never been seen before in the NFL – so it is a so-called Scorigami.

The game already started spectacularly. After a few minutes, running back JK Dobbins flew into the end zone to give Baltimore its first lead. Later, Lamar Jackson and Odell Beckham Junior also showed that they haven’t lost any of their magic.

Jefferson can also play defense

A tight box between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Minnesota Vikings: In the end, the “Bucs” prevailed 20:17. Both sides also offered a spectacle. Kirk Cousins initiated the game’s first touchdown with a spectacular ball to Jordan Addison.

A 57-yard field goal from Chase McLaughlin ultimately made the difference for Tampa Bay. After that, the “Bucs” managed to let the time pass.

Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson spectacularly prevented a possible pick six with a tackle on Tampa safety Christian Izien in the second quarter after an interception.

Debacle for the Giants

The New York Giants start the new season with a 0:40 debacle against the Dallas Cowboys. “America’s Team” dominated right from the start and Noah Igbinoghene carried the ball straight into the end zone for a touchdown after a blocked field goal attempt by the Giants.

The Giants repeatedly struggled against the Cowboys defense organized by Micah Parsons, while Dallas was able to do whatever it wanted up front. After a pick six in the first quarter, the Cowboys were already clearly in the lead.

Eagles lightning start is enough

The Philadelphia Eagles, who are considered one of the favorites to win the Super Bowl, started the new season victoriously. Jalen Hurts and Co. defeated the New England Patriots 25:20. “Philly” benefited from a lightning start.

The Eagles took an early lead with a field goal and a little later cornerback Darius Slay increased the lead. He intercepted Patriots quarterback Mac Jones’ pass attempt and carried the ball directly into the end zone. After that, Philadelphia slowed down and let the Patriots get into the game. Thanks to three field goals in the second half, the Eagles managed to win over time.

Saints narrowly win

The New Orleans Saints beat the Tennessee Titans by a narrow margin of 16:15 at the start of the season. Neo-quarterback Derrek Carr became the match winner: with his first touchdown pass for the Saints after moving from the Raiders in the summer, he gave them the decisive lead in the third quarter.

Injuries

As always, the full-contact sport of football claims its first injury victims in the first week of the NFL season. Baltmore Ravens running back JK Dobbins took it the worst. He is out for the rest of the season with a torn Achilles tendon.

The Green Bay Packers lost running back Aaron Jones to a muscular injury and linebacker Quay Walker did not finish the season opener due to a suspected concussion. There is a similar suspicion with Seattle wide receiver Tyler Lockett. It is not yet clear whether and for how long he will be out.
