Half a century of history is an extraordinary achievement for any sports club. If, in the world of judo, Crotone is known throughout Italy, and beyond, it owes it to Aldo Brugellis, who founded Judo Calabro in 1973, which has produced champions, excellent repeated athletes, some reaching the Olympics, but the whose main merit was to train men and women, teaching them discipline and loyalty. On the fiftieth anniversary of his creation, Brugellis is preparing to organize the 2023 edition of the Milone Trophy, which has the dual purpose of paying homage to one of the greatest athletes of all time and highlighting the name of his city, which on Saturday next September it will be invaded by a small army of judokas, coaches, executives, escorts and family members. And the induced activities generated by sports tourism are now also a factor of importance at an economic level. Beyond this, Crotone is preparing to host the best of Italian judo between 18 and 21 years old, athletes who will come from almost all regions and among which there could also be a Fabio Basile or a Rosalba Forciniti, in short, one of the protagonists of the Paris Olympics, scheduled in just under a year. The 2023 Milone Trophy was presented in the gym of the Don Milani Institute in what, more than a press conference, was almost a party, with Aldo Brugellis a real actor. The mayor of Crotone, Voce, says that every day he is there, in the building in Piazza della Resistenza, demanding attention and beating cash: this is how it is done, that is, a sports manager must be tenacious, insistent, even pedantic, so the more it is, the more results it gets. This is how Brugellis managed to bring Crotone and Crotone almost to the full squad, and this is how he also manages to convince the federal president, Domenico Falcone, that he will not be able to escape the appointment of 23 September. But the professor is certainly not the type who stops or settles, so that the high mission of bringing the name of Crotone to the top also invests our category with responsibility.
