Controversy Surrounds Match Between Ameghino and Bochas at U17 Federal Training League

Between Friday and this Sunday, the penultimate phase of the men’s U17 Federal Training League was played. One of the three triangular matches was held in Villa María, organized by Ameghino. Along with the venue, Matienzo from Córdoba, Bochas Sports Club from Colonia Caroya and Obras Sanitarias from Capital Federal participated.

Matienzo, from the Villa Cabrera neighborhood, the smallest club of the four participants, won its three games: 90-67 against Ameghino, 90-80 against Bochas and 81-68 against Obras, to qualify for the final quadrangular, which will be played on the 29th. and September 30 and October 1.

But the meeting between Ameghino and Bochas reached the offices of the Argentine Basketball Confederation (CABB). The Villamariense team had to win by 29 points to qualify and leave Obras out. In a confusing ending, with four points in a row at the close, Ameghino beat the Colonia Caroya team 119-90, the 29 difference they needed, and qualified.

But after the game, the CABB announced in a statement that it opened “an ex officio file.”

“The Disciplinary Court of the Argentine Basketball Confederation reports that after the match between Ameghino and Bochas Sport Club within the framework of the U17 Federal Training League, it has been decided to open an ex officio file.

The objective will be to analyze the sporting behavior of the members of both teams, as a result of different situations that occurred during the match that ended with a victory for the local team by 119 to 90. Once the analysis is completed, the final ruling will be reported.”
