The response of the RFEF

While the future of Luis Rubiales is being decided, this Thursday it was learned that the Royal Spanish Football Federation ruled on Wiegman’s speech in favor of Hermoso.

According to the newspaper AS, Pedro Rocha, interim president of the federation, thanked Sarina Wiegman for her words and “apologised on behalf of Spanish football in a talk to try to restore an image that is currently battered.”

Another of the voices that made itself felt at this gala was that of Olga Carmona, a player who was chosen as the best in Europe. In her speech, the Spanish also showed her support for Hermoso for what happened on the ocean floor.

After receiving the award, Bonmatí referred to the scandal caused by the forced kiss of Luis Rubiales, president of the Spanish Football Federation, currently provisionally suspended for this case, to the player Jenni Hermoso.

“We cannot allow the abuse of power,” said the Catalan soccer player. “From Jenni to all the women who are suffering the same, we are with you,” she added.

The award for best men’s soccer coach went to the also Spanish Josep Guardiola, from Manchester City, and the one for best women’s soccer coach went to the Dutch Sarina Wiegman, who led England to the world runner-up and who wanted to dedicate the award to the players Spanish for the ‘Rubiales case’.
