Concerns Arise as Indonesian U-23 National Team May Be Hindered by FIFA Calendar in U-23 Asian Cup

tvOnenews.com – Shin Tae-yong’s concerns about the Indonesian U-23 National Team not being able to field overseas players in the U-23 Asian Cup are increasingly becoming a reality.

PSSI General Chair, Erick Thohir, said that the Qatar U-23 Asian Cup was not included in the FIFA calendar.

This means that Indonesian U-23 national team players in Europe may not be allowed to join.

Marselino Ferdianan (KMSK Deinze), Elkan Baggott (Ipswich Town), Ivar Jenner (FC Utrecht), and Rafael Struick (ADO Den Haag) are Indonesian U-23 national team players who are currently pursuing careers in Europe.

Not to mention Pratama Arhan who is currently a Tokyo Verdy player in the Japanese League.

“Our players in Europe still don’t have an answer whether they can strengthen or not. We know that there are four to five players playing in Europe,” said Erick Thohir some time ago.
