KV Kortrijk knows what winning is again since March 18. Cercle Brugge defeated Cercle Brugge at home with a 2-1 victory. Glen De Boeck, the new coach of KVK, watched with satisfaction from the stands. It is the third defeat in a row for Cercle.

Hello Still, welcome De Boeck to KV Kortrijk. That was the biggest news in the run-up to this match. However, the brand new KVK coach was not yet in the dugout, but was in the stands. Assistant Joseph Akpala did the honors for the red and white team for once, but it was De Boeck who decided who stood between the lines for his new team.

De Boeck saw an excellent start from KV Kortrijk. The home team started the match eagerly with some good actions from De Neve, Davies and Kadri, among others. No major danger, but it seemed as if Cercle Brugge had not yet woken up. Cercle seemed to doze off, but did not fall asleep. KVK defender Silva saved the furniture for his team after Gboho fired a shot towards Vandenberghe’s goal. The resulting corner also created danger. Popovic was almost able to head it in, but he was too surprised. A better period for Cercle in the match.

Mediocre first half

Kortrijk let something go, but kept the ball well in its ranks. De Neve made another rush from the left and almost found Mehssatou with a razor-sharp pass. The Chilean had to push the ball in and KVK, but Semedo prevented Cercle from falling behind. De Neve’s opponent, Siquet, also often walked off his line. The Belgian international also often brought the ball in front of goal, but never really found a Bruges native in his way. De Boeck saw a mediocre first half in which there were some small chances.

Cercle lost its attention again after the break and this time they did not escape a goal. During a throw-in, every green-black player was sleeping. De Neve ran away with the ball and in turn flicked it against the ropes, 1-0. The Guldenspoorstadion thundered like never before. Finally something positive for the home fans and a De Neve that is getting better week after week.

Cercle was never really able to offer a dangerous answer to the goal. The Association played a bad game and suffered a third defeat in a row. Not pleasant weeks for a Cercle fan, but certainly for the KVK fan, who also got to celebrate a second goal. Davies was served by Alebiosu in the box and finished perfectly. The victory was won for the Guys, but there was still a bit of a tremble after a late goal by Lopes. Interim coach Akpala takes the three points, something Still was unable to achieve. De Boeck can make a good start to the weekend and make an ideal start to training next week.
